The Institute of Training and Education for Capacity-building (ITEC) envisages a child-friendly South Africa where all children are able to access opportunities for optimal development.

We believe that children have the right to live in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment, and that they deserve the care and education that will equip them for tomorrow's world.

World Give a Book Day – 14 February

Show your love this World Give a Book Day!  The best gift you can give a child is a love of reading.

ITEC is giving a loving gift to children in our Grade 4 Book Club.  We are giving ten children a book to own and keep for ever.  Khazimla, one of the children in the Book Club, designed this awareness poster.  What a profound idea is shared!

World Read Aloud Day

Friday 31 January is World Read Aloud Day!

Spend some time reading aloud to your children today, whether they are a week old, or 15 years old!

Reading aloud is one of the most important things to do with children.  Reading aloud helps children develop good language skills, supports their understanding of the world, and stimulates imagination.

Parents and teachers can model fluent, expressive reading, and help children enter the joyful world of reading for pleasure.

Best wishes for 2019

Good news story!

We are excited that Dienkie Dot, an ECD Centre that ITEC works with in the Humandorp area, featured in the local news recently!  We are very proud of Felicity Toll, the principal, for her hard work in establishing and growing Dienkie Dot.

Felicity was one of our Level 5 ECD Students, and two of her staff completed their Level 4 with us, and are now studying at Level 5.  We also trained their Grade R Practitioner on the STELLAR emergent literacy programme.

ITEC has trained 18 Level 4 students in the Humansdorp area, many of whom have proceeded to Level 5.  We have now trained 38 Level 5 students there.

You can read the news story about Felicity and Dienkie Dot here.

Mandela Month, 2018

As Mr Mandela said, “Each of us, as citizens, has a role to play in creating a better world for our children”.

ITEC celebrated the generous spirit of Nelson Mandela in AmaJingqi, near Willowvale. Together with the local people, we brightened four Early Childhood Development Centres with a fresh new coat of paint in honour of Mandela Month.

Each Centre received much-needed toys and equipment, aimed to enrich the lives and learning of our future leaders!
